Run on Sentence Injured.... Will Sit out Diamond Stakes.

Run on Sentence lost by the narrowest of margins to his half-brother Molecular in the Japan Cup. But the bigger loss to Hopeful Farm came when the colt came home injured in his first start of the season.

"It's not how we wanted to begin the season," owner Chelsey T. told reporters after the track veterinarians looked at the black colt. His injury is not career threatening, according to reports; but it will set Run on Sentence back about 19 days. After treatment he is to get full rest until the 28th of this month.

"He's going to get a good break." Chelsey continued, "If his recovery has no complications he should be back on the tracks at the end of March or early April. But this means we won't be staying in Japan for the Diamond Stakes."

Hopeful Farm had planned on sending the colt to the 16 furlong test to set up either a bid at Dubai or Melbourne.

"We are still trying to decide to go to Dubai or Australia. The Tokyo meet was supposed to lay down the foundations for Run on Sentence. But now we will just adapt and adjust - our new motto for the year!" She joked.
